Filming TED talks in Swansea today

Undercurrents will be joining A Thousand pictures today to film the first TED talks in Swansea. The inspiring series of presentations will be hosted in the Waterfront museum 

The first TEDx event is the Swansea area will feature inspiring and insightful talks from a variety of professionals and guest speakers both local and regional - here is confirmed speaker list so far:

Professor Rory Wilson - 'Reading runes in animal movement'
This lecture will talk about new approaches for elucidating animal movement using state-of-the-art animal-attached tags and new, clever software for visualizing data.

Professor Harold Thimbleby – 'Bad design to die for'
Many computerized devices in hospitals have bad user interfaces, which encourage and cause errors. Instead of blaming nurses when things go wrong, we ought to be improving design.

Vikki Butler - 'Social inclusion and why it matters'
Drawing on approaches from person centered planning, community development, social anthropology and current social research in Wales I pose the question: What is social exclusion, and what are the costs of not having an inclusive society?

Stu Wootton - 'The idiots guide to DIY music making'
So how easy is it to be a DIY musician? Let's find out shall we? using gear we borrow or own, the talk will be a commentary on the methods and logic we used to create music on a tiny budget and how you can do it too.

Brian Spinks - 'The Invention of Telescopes: new horizons for Science'
A look at the past, present and future of telescopes in science and how the telescope shaped much more than our view of the cosmos, influencing many elements of everyday science
