Government sells off Uk Nuke production to Yanks
So the Government has now sold off their last remaining shares in the Aldermaston Atomic Weapons Establishment in Berkshire. This means Britain no longer has any stake in the production of its Trident nuclear warheads.
So who bought the shares? - A US Corporation- California-based Jacobs Engineering joining the other two thirds already in private hands. They are split equally between American defence giant Lockheed Martin and the British plc Serco.
The Government 'announced' the sale in a one paragraph statement on the BNFL website. See above
The Lib Dems said it was staggering that Parliament had not been properly informed.
